Finance: Steven Seitchik
seitchiks@verison.net :To oversee all financial matters of the Temple: UJR MUM affiliation, budget preparation, dues recommendation, funding projects, capital campaigns, endowments, gifts, salaries, Temple insurances.

Membership: (Elaine Shepard efshepard@aol.com) :See the membership process and application forms. Contact all prospective members, send packets to applicants, review returned packets for completeness and forward to finance, inform schools of possible new students, follow-up contact with new members, new member Shabbat.

Cemetery: ( Mark Stahller mstahller@att.net),
Enact all cemetery rules, negotiate contracts with cemetery association, handle any problems that occur in relation to the cemetery.

Property: (Michael Greenstein)
Work closely with the custodian, Bill Dolak, to ensure the maintenance of the Temple and Study Center in good order. Obtain bids for major repairs, and recommend needed action to the board. Maintain a list of deferred maintenance in priority order for completion as funding allows. Oversee contracted use of the facilities by members and others as needed. Work toward maintaining disability accessibility of all Temple areas

Personnel: (Joel Goldman)
Take care of all relations with the Temple staff, bring concerns over their working environment, compensation packages to the Board. Coordinate hiring of new/replacement staff. Participate in negotiations with the Rabbi at times of contract renewal or Rabbi search.

Nominating (Past pres.):Steven Seitchik

Chairs a standing committee of nine as detailed in our bylaws. Work throughout the year at discovering and nurturing potential Temple leaders. Presents the slate to the Board and congregation.

Legal (Jeff Levine (non-board)) A standing committee to provide legal advice to the Board as necessary. A lawyer, who is a Temple member, usually graciously donates this work to the Temple.

Constitution/Bylaws: (Abigail Byman bymana1@uofs.edu),
Maintain updated policies of the board, review and revise the documents as needed.

Fundraising: To coordinate all fund-raising activities.

Publicity: Promote the visibility of Temple and its activities through the public media and "Shabbat Shalom" an email supplement to The Messenger.

Messenger: ( Allan Heilbrunn HesedNews @aol.com): To edit and produce a monthly bulletin to keep members, and others, aware of the Temple's many activities, and life cycle events of its members.

Long-range planning: (Ed Basan edbasan@scrantonjcc.org and Abby Smith):
To provide a planned vision of the face of Reform Judaism in the community for the near and long term future. To help other committees strategically plan their future goals.

In close contact with the Rabbi, and in conjunction with the membership's and UAHC's recommendations, oversees the ritual and worship practices of Temple Hesed. Sees to the observances of all holy/holidays, ritual object maintenance, service scheduling, tot/camp-style services, honors granting, and study issues of change within the religious practices of our movement as they affect our Temple (ex. Non-Jewish participation in services)

Relgious Education: (Mark Davis crystal_man@adelphia.net ),
This committee has two guidebooks: the Shabbat School manual, and the Bar/Bat Mitzvah Guidebook that delineate the many activities of this vital committee. In close relationship with the Rabbi, it oversees the children's religious school, the Hebrew school, and Jewish holiday celebrations for children/families. The committee is responsible for the school's teaching staff and budgets.

Social Action: (Judy Golden jsg@epix.net) Actively involves Temple and its members in the needs of society for many issues. To date we have concentrated on hunger, feeding
programs, donation, vision and hearing needs, interfaith and interracial issues, poverty.

Hesed Friendship/Caring Community: calls writes those who are ill, shut-in, recovering.

ARZA/WU Reform Judaism: Our relation to ARZA/WU Our link to Israel issues as affecting Reform Judaism around the world.

Adult Education: (Esher Adelman ebabunney@aol.com)
Plans learning opportunities for adults through classes, book discussions, lectures, videos.

Donations/Acknowledgments: Sends thank you notes to people who make donations who do not receive The Messenger.

Group with No Name: (Jeff and Carol Leventhal, jeff@leventhaldental.com )
Social activities for active adults who are in that life-space where, if they have -or had they had-children, at least one would have left the nest-who want to socialize their friends from Temple Hesed.
