The Jewish Federation is the central fundraising body for partially meeting the budgetary needs of those agencies which provide direct social services to the entire Jewish community. They include, broadly speaking, recreation / group work, Jewish education, services for the aged, and counseling. In addition, the Federation also makes available special grants for programming and building requirements that can not be met through the allocations available from the United Jewish Campaign.
